Meditating on the Sovereignty of God

As we look forward to the coming sermon this Sunday, let us prepare our hearts and our minds for God to reveal more of Himself to us by meditating on scripture and asking questions. We have provided some here to get you started, but don’t stop there, search your own heart and ask your own questions. God wants us to seek Him. He can handle all our questions, all our emotions, all our arguments, He isn’t afraid of them. He is love and in Him is hidden the richness of wisdom and knowledge. Bring the fullness of you before Him. He has torn down the curtain, there is no longer a need for a barrier between us, so let us be careful  not to put one back up. Step within the veil as you ask your questions and trust Him–He has never done anything unloving, all is working for goodness and glory. As you consider the sovereignty of God, what questions do you wrestle with? What about this attribute of God do you find comforting? How does it move you to worship Him?

Questions to Ponder:

  1. How do we understand evil in light of God’s sovereignty?
  2. If we have an infinitely powerful and wise God who is for us, why do you think we worry?
  3. To what ultimate end is God’s sovereign power being directed?
