More Than We Could Ask or Imagine?

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us… (Ephesians 3:20)

What a line.

Immeasurably more than all I can ask or imagine? Really? If that is true, I need to reach higher, imagine deeper, ask for more things that only God can do.

And all this is done by the power that is at work inside of me? This partnership that Christ has invited me into shakes me up considerably when I look at verses like Ephesians 3:20. I want this in my life. I want to see God being God in my life. Like Moses, who got to see the glory of God with his own eyes, I want to see the glory of God at work in and though me. But how does this happen? How do we get to the point of walking in the love and power of God where “more than we could ask or imagine” is a regular part of our Christian walk?

Christ has set us free and empowers us to now choose to believe God’s goodness above all else and bring His life to our worlds. This is the mission. And it starts in your heart and mind. We are first ambassadors of God’s goodness by trusting in Him to bring His life to our own broken circumstances.

As we learn to trust His word above and beyond our broken interpretation of our broken circumstance, we gain a determination that equips us with the motive to patiently wait to see His goodness. And when we begin to see His goodness do the unthinkable in our lives, we can’t help but sing of His faithfulness. And as we depend with un-quitting determination on His faithfulness in the gaps of our lives where longings go painfully unmet, that trust will keep us in a position to be a recipient of His story of redemption in our individual lives. And when the gospel begins to ring true to the core of our lives, we become ambassadors of Christ with every waking breath.

We are on mission as we wait for God to bring the fullness of himself into the most personal details of our lives. The mission must start by seeking God’s face in the midst of whatever your life looks like because it is there in knowing our God and seeing His goodness collide with our world that the work of glory begins. This is where the mission starts because such glory cannot be hidden. If God shows himself to you as you sit hidden in the cleft of the rock, you will come down the mountain and into the valley with your face radiating His glory. From there, we act in faith and bring the life of Christ to the pockets of the world that we have personally been entrusted with.

This Fall we will be launching a project aimed at learning how to pray with purpose and passion so that through prayer we will begin to see the power of God moving boldly and brilliantly through our lives, our families, our church, and our community.
